When I was a little girl my parents would take me to the Kennywood Amusement Park. The park opened on May 30, 1899, as a trolley park attraction at the end of the Mellon family's Monongahela Street Railway. I remember the thrill of the hearing people scream with delight, the beautiful colors of the all the rides, especially the merry-go-round, the floating balloons and all of the smiles of those around us. We had so much innocent fun eating hotdogs, french fries and cotton candy. When I went there my head would spin with delight becauseI I felt free to just have a really fun time.
