It all started when I was five years old and my Dad picked me up to view the nest in our young tree. There in living color was a robin’s eggs…..a luscious shade of cyan blue. That is when I fell in love with colors.
The simple definition of color: "the quality of an object or substance with respect to light reflected by the object”. My subject matter is the power of color. Color is fundamental to our experience of the world around us.
I enjoy watching paint move and take on its own energy. The dance proceeds by using various methods of application such as the swipe of a brush, the push and pull of a palette knife, the spray from a can or the splatter and splash from a vessel. I demand from myself spontaneity in gesture, but also refine and edit my art from my knowledge of composition, balance and color. My personal reaction to the joyfulness in the world around me, then, completes the translation to the canvas.
I invite you, the viewer, to enter my world and experience your personal interpretations of what is happening on the canvas. I hope that looking at them brings a smile to your face.
